Commonplace Artists Studios
Date 2006 - 2016
Info
I founded Commonplace Artists Studios in 2006. It was a project that grew from a need for Artists Studios in Dublin City and my desire to support emerging artists through commissioning new work. The project evolved over a period of ten years (having started out with a working title 'Commonplace Amateur Projects')...
Archive Notes
I commissioned projects until 2012 (supported through Dublin City Arts Office Funding and from profits generated through studio lettings). A collection of donated work by emerging Irish Artists exists in the aftermath...The studios were home to numerous professional artists who instigated open studio visits and a series of successful group exhibitions (also funded from residue income through studio lettings).
Image: A Drawing Group met regularly over a period of ten years (including professional and non-professional artists) It became a valued social and skill building resource in Dublin City. Documentation of 'Commonplace Creatives' activities are archived and available on request.
