Moore Street Lending Library

Date 2005

Info

Moore Street Lending Library was initiated by Firestation Artists Studios and Katheirne Sankey and curated by Sandra Grozdanic, Declan Sheehan and Sally Timmons, assisted by Minna Oberg. The site of interes for an engaged intervention was chosen by the three selected curators. The Library was open (in a disused room on a side street of Moore Street) from September 27th to October 15th 2005 at Moore Street, Dublin 1. The Living Archive accumulated donated objects and stories during this time. A wrap event/street party concluded the project. All aspects have been archived and the library contents have been accessed towards publications and documentaries since the projects inception. Moore Street is an iconic market street in Dublin's Inner City Centre. It is the location where the final hours of the much documented historical 'Rising' took place in 1916. The street has been a nodal centre of social, cultural and economic change throughout Dublin's history. The Archive is currently in the safe hands of Irish Historian and Teacher, Barry Kennerk
